Story: Lydia - fall 2006 Waldport, Oregon Dan came over to rehearse the Recovery Zone songs and told a story about a woman he had met. I just happened to be playing the pattern that is the chord foundation for this song and started singing and laughing as we put together this song based on the real story Dan was telling. Dan, Vallorie, and I wrote the first three verses before we moved on to other work. The next time we got together Dan continued the story with new adventures of a man she met and the events that followed. We wrote the next two verses based on that. Finally, a few weeks later, we heard she had disappeared so we wrote the final verse in hopes it would be positive energy directed her way. We had fun with this song and hope it shines through to you, and her, and him.

Lyrics: 10-Lydia
Went down to a meeting earlier today Met a little girl there kept looking my way Told her I been coming here for recovery She said I’m just coming here To finish off a spree
chorus: Her name was Marie But we all did agree to call her Lydia
Lydia walked in brushing back her hair Sat herself down she had no underwear! I turned away real fast Don’t want none of that Decided I would leave grabbed my coat and hat chorus Now I said honestly I don’t understand She replied to me just looking for a man Thank you pretty lady for knocking on my door I’ve had my share of your kind before chorus She finally took a man available and free Promised him a life of love for eternity Hook line and sinker You know that man was caught He took the bait but how much will it cost? chorus Lost all his money nearly lost his soul That young woman really took a toll Lost his home most all of his friends Now he knows he owes amends But what’s he gonna do About Marie? chorus She is still out there We hope she’s coming back When she doesn’t need a man To show her where it’s at Where it’s at is deep inside That’s where love and peace reside Hiding from tomorrows filled with sorrows chorus
